On The Differences And Dissimilarities Of Chinese And Western Symbolic Painting

In the early 20 th century,western symbolic painting was introduced into China and carried promoted.More and more Chinese painters use symbolic techniques to enrich the ways and content of their works and express their reflection on their Times.Obviously,the use of symbolism has become an indispensable part of their creation.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the similarities between Chinese and western symbolic painting.This paper mainly takes the western symbolic painting in the 19 th century and Chinese literati painting,during the period of the Republic of China and the stage of reform and opening up as an example,interprets the representative symbolic paintings,explores the differences and similarities of Chinese and western symbolic paintings,and mainly analyzes the different symbolic meanings of the two.This explores the reason behind the difference in the meaning of Chinese and Western symbolic painting.Through the comparative analysis of the symbolic meaning,the following conclusions:（1）the common mainly in the birth background,the use of symbolic technique,against tracing reality,emphasis on subjective creation;（2）the differences between the two,but the most important difference is the difference in their symbolic meaning.Most western symbolic paintings reflect the painters’ thoughts on the ultimate questions of death and life.The symbolic meaning of the picture is macro and has no standard answer.Most Chinese symbolic paintings are metaphors for many real problems in reality,and the symbolic meaning contained in the pictures is specific and real.Based on this conclusion,this paper explores the reasons of the differences in symbolic painting,hoping to provide reference for the use of symbolic and symbolic techniques in future painting practice.
