A Report On The E-C Translation Of THE 4 SEASON SOLUTION From The Perspective Of Eco-Translatology

This report takes the excerpts from the English-Chinese translation of THE 4SEASON SOLUTION written by an American sports nutritionist called Dallas Hartwig as the research object.From the perspective of biology,the book leads its readers to re-examine their living habits,understand our evolutionary process and operation mechanism of human body,then to improve their diet structure,achieve the purpose of weight loss while eating healthier,and adapt their behaviors and habits to the internal rhythm of the body.In the translation project,the main difficulty lies in the tremendous amount of professional vocabulary and physiological theories.The translator needs to balance the seriousness of popular science and the entertainment of literature.This report takes Eco-translatology as the theoretical guidance.Ecotranslatology raised by Professor Hu Gengshen,as a leader of domestic translation theories,is a holistic study of translation from an ecological perspective.This theory enables translators to make adaption and selection of the translation ecological environment from the three dimensions: linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension.This report adopts the translation methods of literal translation and free translation at the level of language dimension,adopts foreignization and domestication at the level of cultural dimension,adopts interpretation and amplification at the level of communicative dimension to realize the three-dimension transformation between the translation and the original,so as to strive for the harmony of the ecological environment of the target language.At the same time,combined with specific translation examples,this report analyzes how the translator makes adaptive selections on the ecological environment of the original,which can not only ensure the accuracy of popular science content,but also meet the needs of Chinese readers and achieve the purpose of ecological balance of the translation.This report aims to prove that the “Three-dimensional transformation” in Ecotranslatology is also applicable to the translation of similar information texts,help more Chinese readers understand and accept some modern Western health care concepts,and provide reference for the research of modern Western nutrition and functional medicine.
