A Comparative Study Of Polite Expressions In Chinese And Swahili

Polite language is one of the indispensable parts of language in life.If you want to understand the principles of national politeness,you must study them.You can learn about a country’s culture by learning intercultural communication or by learning a foreign language.Due to different reasons,there are differences in the use of politeness language between Swahili and Chinese,which leads to pragmatic errors.These errors include poor grasp of the use of polite language,do not understand the cultural background,polite language use occasion is not clear,the way to express polite language not accustomed.This article through the research and the contrast,Swahili language and the Chinese politeness language use,and carries on the comparison,looks for the error and analyzes the error reason,is helpful for the future learner as well as the teaching.It also provides advice on the preparation of teaching materials.This paper consists of five main parts.The first part mainly expounds the background and significance of the selected topic,the background of the selected topic,the significance of the selected topic,the research significance of the research status of this topic and some innovations.The second part is a comparative analysis of Chinese and Swahili polite language.The third part is the errors encountered and the reasons of polite language in Chinese and Swahili.The fourth part is the Analysis of Kenyan students’ usage of polite language habits and teaching suggestions,and giving some suggestions towards learners,teaching and teaching materials.Learners should watch more Chinese traditional and contemporary dramas and movies to understand the changes of Chinese language communication and improve their pragmatic competence.In addition,as a foreign student,you should communicate with Chinese friends and seize every opportunity to use Chinese.It is also suggested that some cultural courses should be added to make students know more about Chinese pragmatic culture,train students’ oral communicative competence and enhance their ability to express and respond.At the same time,only by arousing students’ interest and thirst for knowledge,can we promote the smooth development of teaching.As politeness language is closely related to culture,it is suggested that the compilation of Chinese pragmatic culture textbook should be strengthened to provide high-level materials for students to acquire pragmatic knowledge.Also can add some polite language related small video,group activities,such as to let students simulate performances and other activities.The fifth part is the conclusion of the thesis.
