Writing is one of the main output skills of English,which reflects students’ ability to use English comprehensively.Senior high school is the key period for the development of students’ writing ability in English.For a long time,English teachers have been exploring effective ways and methods to improve students’ writing ability in English.Combined with the teaching objects and the characteristics of English writing in senior high school,this study adopts the teaching method of“students’ cooperative writing”,trying to test two hypotheses: 1.Students’ cooperative writing may improve high school students’ interest in English writing.2.Students’ cooperative writing may improve high school students’ writing ability in English.This study took 83 students from two classes of Grade 1 in a senior high school as the research objects,including 41 in the experimental class and 42 in the controlled class and carried out a teaching experiment for one semester(September-December)based on constructivism theory,zone of proximal development and social interdependence theory.The teaching method of "students’ cooperative writing" is adopted in the experimental class.In this study,"students’ cooperative writing" refers to the way in which students write in groups in class and after class under the guidance of teachers.And the current writing teaching method based on independent writing is continued in the controlled class.The main research instruments used are:tests,questionnaires,students’ learning diaries and interviews.This study proves that after the application of "students’ cooperative writing" in English writing,more students begin to be interested in English writing and their writing ability has also improved.Therefore,the results show that students’ cooperative writing may improve high school students’ interest in English writing;students’ cooperative writing may improve high school students’ writing ability in English.
