Micro-writing is defined as writing that describes scenes and things close to students’ real life,presents opinions and emotions through short and concise expressions,marked by micro forms,short time,strong pertinence and simple operation.The paper analyzed the possibility and effectiveness of micro-writing.Combining the foundation of writing teaching and the scientific theory,we discussed the form of teaching mode and writing lessons,and then built the course structure in order to overcome the deficiency of traditional English writing teaching.We adopted the experimental method to collect data and selected the students from two classes in Grade 8 of No.5 Middle School in Chengjiang county,a rural boarding school of Yuxi city,as the experimental subjects.Compared micro-writing with traditional writing teaching,in an attempt to reveal the cause,micro-writing offered scientific and reliable data for the research.Meanwhile,a questionnaire survey and interview were conducted to understand students and teachers’ attitudes towards writing and suggestions on the course.Through the investigation and the experiment,the author found that micro-writing,as a new writing teaching mode,is conducive to improving students’writing skills,upgrading their interest in writing,cultivating students’innovative thinking and language awareness in writing,and prompting them to be more inclined to share their ideas in English.However,in the exploration of micro-writing teaching practice,there are still many areas to be improved,which need to be further tested and improved in the future teaching practice.This paper consists of five chapters.In introduction,it f explains the research background,research significance,research significance and the distribution of the main chapters of the paper.The second chapter classifies and sorts out the relevant research on writing and micro-writing at home and abroad,gives the definition and characteristics of micro-writing and illustrates the theoretical basis of micro-writing guidance to explains the rationality and necessity of micro-writing in Junior middle school English teaching.The third chapter introduces the design of this study,including research questions,research hypotheses,research objects,research tools and research steps.The fourth chapter is the data analysis,collected from pre-test and post-test,the questionnaire and the interview and the result discussion.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,including the main findings,research enlightenment,research limitations and the suggestions on future research.
