On Vermeer’s Painting Expression

This paper mainly focuses on exploring Vermeer’s painting performance and discusses it.Vermeer,as one of the famous Dutch painters,was once forgotten for 200 years before being rediscovered.The reason why people can find Vermeer’s own value is that "the fragrance of wine is not afraid of the deep alley".It is history that makes us re-recognize Vermeer who has been sleeping for two centuries.This paper is divided into five parts to discuss Vermeer’s painting performance.Firstly,it introduces the research background,research status at home and abroad,research purpose,research significance and research methods of this topic.Secondly,it introduces the enigmatic painter Vermeer,starting from the Dutch small painting school where Vermeer is located,and getting a deep understanding of Vermeer’s era background,family background and life experience in the process of creation,thus leading to Vermeer’s thinking about painting in the big background at that time.Vermeer’s thinking about painting is not only reflected in his application of light and shadow,but also reflected in color and painting theme.Thirdly,this topic compares Vermeer and Rembrandt,two masters of painting,and fully analyzes the differences between the two painters in the use of portraits and landscapes,so as to have a deeper understanding of Vermeer’s painting characteristics.Finally,I combine the thesis with my graduation creation,draw inspiration and analyze Vermeer’s influence on my graduation creation,and learn more about western painting through learning.This paper studies Vermeer’s charm of light and shadow,color application,theme conception,composition method,etc.to learn the language in painting,and integrate his own ideas and knowledge to create more complete works.
