The Effect Of Parenting By Lying On Adolescent Mobile Phone Addiction:the Mediation Of Maladaptive Cognition And The Moderation Of Unconditional Acceptance

With the development of science and technology,the Internet has begun to be fully popularized,and the usage rate of mobile phones among adolescents in my country has increased significantly.While mobile phones bring convenience to adolescents’ life and study,they also bring some potential negative effects.Therefore,the study of the causes of adolescents’ mobile phone addiction has great practical significance for the intervention of adolescents’ mental health.In the previous studies,family factors have an important predictive effect on mobile phone addiction,but most of the relevant studies have investigated the influence of relatively obvious positive or negative family factors on mobile phone addiction,and those relatively insignificant parenting styles（such as parenting by lying）,few studies have taken into account the relationship to mobile phone addiction.As a parenting method commonly used by parents to avoid conflict with their children,parenting by lying is generally considered acceptable and thus easy to ignore its negative effects.Therefore,this study takes adolescents as subjects to investigate the effect of parenting by lying on mobile phone addiction and its mechanism.Based on the cognitive-behavioral model of pathological Internet use,this study constructs a moderated mediation model to examine the mediating role of maladaptive cognition in the influence of parenting by lying on adolescents’ mobile phone addiction,and further investigate whether the mediating role is affected by unconditional acceptance the adjustment of positive factors in this family.Taking 1305 students from two middle school in Xinyang and Wenzhou as subjects,Questionnaires were conducted using the Parenting by Lying scale,the Maladaptive Cognitive Scale,the Unconditional Acceptance Scale and the Mobile Phone Addiction Scale.The research conclusions are as follows:（1）There are significant differences in gender,whether only child,staying behind and grades in teenagers’ mobile phone addiction;parents’ unconditional acceptance has significant differences in staying behind and grades;parenting by lying has significant differences in grades.（2）There is a significant positive correlation between parenting by lying,maladaptive cognition and mobile phone addiction,unconditional acceptance is significantly negatively correlated with parenting by lying,maladaptive cognition and mobile phone addiction.（3）Maladaptive cognition mediates between parenting by lying and adolescent mobile phone addiction.（4）The first half of the intermediary path of “parenting by lying → maladaptive cognition → mobile phone addiction” is moderation by unconditional acceptance,that is,parents’ high unconditional acceptance can buffer the negative impact of parenting by lying on maladaptive cognition.
