| In today’s digital era,with the rapid development of Internet and communication technology,mobile phones have become an important part of people’s daily life.The high frequency usage is vulnerable to the Mobile Phone Addiction.And adolescents are the group with high detection rate of Mobile Phone Addiction.In addition,Celebrity Worship is very common among adolescents,and most of them usually use mobile phones as a carrier to carry out online star-catching behaviors.Therefore,this study focuses on the close relationship between “Mobile Phone Addiction” and “Celebrity Worship” among adolescents,and explores the influence of Celebrity Worship on Mobile Phone Addiction.The study also proposed a moderated mediator model to examine the mediating effect of Fear of Missing Out(Fo MO)and the moderating effect of Self-control.Specifically,we used a questionnaire method to track 992 adolescent students and measured the Celebrity Worship,Fo MO,Self-control and Mobile Phone Addiction,through a longitudinal design at two time points separated by 6 months-T1(06/2022)and T2(12/2022).The results of the study showed that:(1)The cross-lagged model indicated that Celebrity Worship significantly and positively predicted adolescents’ Mobile Phone Addiction;(2)Fo MO played a longitudinal mediating role in the effect of Celebrity Worship on cell phone addiction 6 months later;(3)The moderated mediator was confirmed,and held that Self-control significantly moderated the path of “Celebrity Worship →Mobile Phone Addiction”.Based on the existing research results,this study validated the model of the influence of Celebrity Worship on adolescents’ Mobile Phone Addiction by referring to“Use and Satisfaction Theory”,“Limited Self-control Theory” and “Self-Determination Theory”.This study enriches the related researches in the field of Celebrity Worship and Mobile Phone Addiction.This is especially suitable for exploring the factors that trigger adolescents’ mobile phone addiction in the current era when online media and “Fandom Culture” are prevalent,which is important for effectively preventing mobile phone addiction among adolescents. |
