Eugene Nida,a famous translator from American. The theory,Functional equivalence proposed by him occupies an important position in translation. This theory advocates consistency in meaning rather than equality in form and attaches importance to readers’ feelings. The Scream is a masterpiece of Lu Xun’s collection of stories, which pioneered modern realism literature. In recent years, many achievements have been made in the translation of The Scream.Comparatively, the study of Uyghur is insufficient. Therefore, starting from the theory of functional equivalence, this paper takes the original text of Lu Xun’s novel collection The Scream and the Translation of The Translation by Mr.Tohuti Bahai as the research object to explore and analyze how translators achieve functional equivalence.Firstly, through literature research, this paper summarizes the literature on the theory and translation research of The Scream to build a framework for the paper.Secondly, through comparative analysis, this paper discusses whether the text achieves functional equivalence and how to achieve the equivalence of the four dimensions of vocabulary, syntax, discourse and style, and puts forward corresponding suggestions for the unreasonable translation. Finally, translation strategies and methods commonly used at all levels are summarized. With his profound translation skills and superb translation techniques,Mr.Tohuti Bahai made the translation as complete as possible to maintain the language style and connotation of the original text and achieve functional equivalence. This not only promoted the spread of Lu Xun’s works in minority areas, but also made a great contribution to the cause of ethnic language translation.Through the comparative analysis of the original text and the translated text at various levels,it is found that at the lexical level, translators tend to consider the inner meaning of words and use specific translation methods to express their loaded cultural connotations. At the syntactic level,on the basis of respecting the ideogram of the source text and combining with the expression habits of the target language, the target text is consistent with the source text in meaning. At the level of text, translators grasp the internal logical relations between different parts of the text to make the cohesion and coherence of the text more smooth. At the style level, the translator tries his best to convey the purport of the original text while retaining the rhetorical devices used in order to show the style of the original text to the target language readers. In view of these shortcomings, the author tries to make modifications to give some useful suggestions for the work.
