A Study On Peter Handke’s "Searching" Writing

Peter Handke displayed his brilliant talents in the literary world by Die Hornissen(1966)– a unique novel.As a drama-Publikumsbeschimpfung was popular,Peter Handke has gradually become a master in the German world.After experiencing an unconventional style of writing,Wunschloses ungluck(1972)and Langsame Heimkehr(1979)started with the depth of philosophy of the existentialism,and their author also become one of representatives of ―new subjectivity literature‖,and explored the autobiography.The paper discusses the writing of "searching" of Peter Handke’s novels in four parts.Firstly,explains thesis source searches the reason that Peter Handke frequently uses "searching" theme.The reason for the frequent occurrence of the theme explored from three aspects: the conceptual history of the "searching" subject literature,historical and cultural influence and the author’s creative motivation.Secondly,the motivation of the ―things to be searched‖ is explored from "searching".Explore the motivation from two aspects,the imbalance of life style and the self-closure of characters of searching.It is the goals of search that spiritual sanctuary,material history,nation history and gain the spiritual experience of the present.This reflects the value choice of searchers.Thirdly,the paper focuses on the narrator in the"searching" plot and space-time structure of the text.The autobiographical narrator portrays an observer involved in daily life with calm style,objective description and "anti-novel" narrative techniques.The spatial narrative is reflected in the dynamic space formed by "searching" and the static space reached by ―visiting‖.The time narrative is embodied as the staggered and complex narrative time,the prenarration of the characters with the fate of "searching",and the slow and repetitive narrative rhythm.Fourthly,the paper analyzes values and main problems of "searching"writing of Peter Handke.The paper,through the analysis on "searching" plots throughout all novels of Peter Handke,unveils the world truth for the author to search and meaning of human life in terms of contents and forms,thus deeply knowing novel art of Peter Handke and expanding the research perspective of Peter Handke.
