| Peter Handke is regarded as the best contemporary Austrian writer and one of the most outstanding writers in German literature today. The research on Handke in Chinese academia is far from consistent with his creative achievements, and the research content mainly focuses on the early drama creation, but the attention to Handke’s novel creation in the middle and late period is slightly insufficient.Throughout Handke’s novel creation, thinking about the issue of "new subjectivity" is his consistent pursuit and the main symbol of his uniqueness in the literary world. This thesis takes Handek’s "new subjectivity novels" as the research object, and aims to reveal the way and significance of the construction of "new subjectivity" in his novels through the method of combining historical context and close reading of the text. The thesis clarifies the concept and scope of the "new subjectivity novels",and points out that there is still a lot of room for the research on the construction of the "new subjectivity" of Handke’s novels.Start with Handke’s view of language,we find that there is an important relationship between language and the alienation of people, and reading is a ways to fight against language problems and re-understand the world.Based on the renewal of language,Handke also emphasizes the choice of style."New Subjectivity Novels" rely heavily on autobiographical novels and travel novels. In these two styles, the protagonist’s behavior and thoughts show the subjectivity that Handek pursues. This is a way to explore the construction of the "new subjectivity" of Handeck’s novels from the aspect of form. From the content point of view, the author’s own literary experience also makes his novels focus on the generation of human subjectivity from three aspects: the expression of personal emotions, the reappearance of survival crisis and the pursuit of oneself.Handke is good at describing concrete objects.Through the analysis of the three representative objects of mirrors, newspapers and landscapes, the thesis explores the role of objects in expressing the subjectivity of the characters. Finally, the thesis summarizes Handke’s related attempts to construct the "new subjectivity" of the novels, and affirms the position and role of this creative approach in Handke’s creative career. |
