Wu Changshuo was a famous Chinese and foreign artist from the 19 th century to the 20 th century,who combined "poem,calligraphy,painting,and seal cutting" into one.His achievements in seal script are mainly reflected in the research and practice of Stone-drum inscriptions.Stone-drum inscriptions is also known as "the ancestor of stone carvings".Nowadays,the first reaction to mentioning Stone-drum inscriptions is to connect with Wu Changshuo.This is due to Wu Changshuo made a conscious innovation on Stone-drum inscriptions on the basis of tradition.Not only did he go back to the source and pursue the "ancient method",but also absorbed the nourishment of contemporary seal script and clerical script masters,forming a self-contained line,and with his strong masculinity,it dispelled the weak calligraphy style of the calligraphy circle at that time.Therefore,we must combine Wu Changshuo with Stone-drum inscriptions to reserach when we will studying nowadays.This article focuses on the style of Wu Changshuo’s seal scripts.First,it sorts out the origins of Wu Changshuo’s seal scripts,and then analyzes the technical characteristics of his seal scripts through his works,and then summarizes the three styles of seal scripts.The last chapter explains the style of Wu Changshuo’s seal scripts in his own creation and The influence of other calligraphers’ and calligraphy on their own creation,and summarized the shortcomings of creation and the enlightenment for themselves.
