The feature of Su shi’s calligraphy is distinct, but it also often causes criticism of the calligraphers of the past dynasties. The focus of the debate is mainly focused on the three characteristics of “Zuoxiuyouku”,“Mozhu” and “Shiyahama”.“Zuoxiuyouku” is one of the characteristics of the gathering and scattering relationship in the style of calligraphy knot. Its cause is not only related to Su shi’s unique way of using pen,but also the expression of his language skills. In the Northern Song Dynasty,Sushi is not the only one who has the element of “Zuoxiu”,besides him,Zhang Fangping,Wang Anshi and Huang Tingjian also have the style of “Zuoxiu”.But they have different attitudes on the right from Su shi.Mi fu’s style is the opposite of Su shi’s,which is often characterized by “Zuokuyouxiu”.However,Mi fu has no similar ridicule, and Su shi’s calligraphy structure style is reasonable. The concept of “Mozhu” is put forward as one of the diseases of calligraphy strokes, usually expresses as soft and fat calligraphy strokes. Some researchers hold different views on “Mozhu” and think it is the reason of ink accumulating on paper, which has been discussed in this paper.Calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty is also famous for its plumpness, but there are few “Mozhu” ridicules, which is related to the style of calligraphy and the way of writing at that time.Su Shi’s habit of using ink is closely related to the sarcasm of “Mozhu”.Su Shi didn’t only pay attention to “Rou” but not“Gu” in calligraphy. From his book theory,it can be seen that Su Shi’s art view is not single. From his works,it can be seen that although ink is too abundant, but it’s full of“Gu” and “Rou”,which has nothing to do with the so-called “Mozhu”."Shiyahama" is used to describe the calligraphy that can be used as a metaphor for both the structure and the strokes.According to the common saying,it refers to the horizontal flat character of the structure;the rule of speech and pen refers to the flat width and fat of the strokes. The former has become a conventional theory, while the latter rarely applies. In this paper, the former is questioned, that “Shiyahama” refers to the flat width of the pen is more appropriate, that is,the light and flat perspective before and after the strokes, thus showing a block like appearance.Su shi adopts single hook and oblique holding The stroke of lifting and pressing is seldom used,There is a wealth of brushwork from su shi’s works. The calligrapher’s writing habits are not to be criticized,This is also the key to the formation of calligraphy style.
