| The English curriculum of compulsory education emphasizes the cultivation and improvement of the language skills of listening,speaking,reading,writing,and viewing.However,these skills do not exist separately.They are integrated and developed in English teaching and can often achieve remarkable effects of mutual promotion and improvement.Reading-to-write model is helpful to input and output knowledge and easy to achieve better teaching effect by closely linking reading skills with writing skills.At present,relevant studies have proved the good effect of the reading-to-write model in practical English writing teaching,but most of them are studies on the effect of this model on English writing performance,focusing on writing vocabulary,grammar,sentence patterns,and other aspects,rather than conjunctions in English writing.However,conjunction plays a crucial role in the cohesion and coherence of junior high school English writing.The level 3 language skills content requirements of the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)clearly put forward specific requirements for junior high school students to use conjunctions,which shows that the use of conjunctions is also an embodiment of students’ English writing level.Therefore,on the theoretical basis of Krashen’s input hypothesis,Swain’s output hypothesis,and schema theory,this study selected an ordinary class(38 students in total)in Grade 9 of a middle school in Boxing County,Binzhou City,Shandong Province as the research participant,and adopted questionnaires,interviews,and other research tools to conduct two rounds of action research.This paper discusses the influence of the reading-to-write model on the use of conjunctions in junior high school English writing and puts forward the following two research questions:(1)How can teachers apply the reading-to-write model to improve students’ use of conjunctions in junior high school English writing?(2)What are the effects of the reading-to-write model on the quantity,type,and accuracy of conjunctions used in junior high school students’ English writing?This study mainly draws the following conclusions:(1)Reading-to-write model is an effective way to improve students’ use of conjunctions.In the reading input phase,teachers can help students to use conjunctions to analyze passage structure,identify and classify the conjunctions,perceive the role of conjunctions,and expand conjunctions to promote conjunction input.In the writing output phase,teachers can guide students to make an outline and analyze the content of the composition to consolidate the use of conjunctions.(2)Reading-to-write model has a positive effect on junior high school students’ ability to use conjunctions in English writing,especially in terms of the quantity,type,and accuracy of conjunctions. |
