Writing plays a very important role in English learning in junior high school.As a vital means of language input,the function of reading cannot be ignored in the improvement of writing level.However,during the internship,the author found that there were many problems existing in English writing instruction in junior high school.Students lack interest and confidence in English writing.Most junior high school students write English compositions passively and so on.At present,English writing is a big problem for teachers and students to solve in junior high school.In order to improve these situations,based on the Input Hypothesis and the Output Hypothesis,the author tries to utilize reading-to-write model in English teaching through combining reading and writing organically to improve the effect of writing in junior high school.The present study addresses the following three questions:(1)Does the reading-to-write model have a positive effect on improving the students'ability of writing?(2)In what aspects does the reading-to-write model influence the students'English writing ability?(3)What are the attitudes of junior high school students towards the reading-to-write model?The author adopts the method of experimental analysis to carry out the research.The study is conducted in two parallel classes of Grade two in junior high school.One is experimental class and the other is controlled class.The participants consist of 90 students and there are 44 in the controlled class and 46 students in the experimental class.In the process of the experiment,the researcher employed the reading-to-write model in the experimental class,while the traditional teaching method was applied in the controlled class.The experimental data came from the students' scores of pre-test and post-test.After the experiment,the collected data were analyzed with SPSS 20.0.Before and after the experiment,the author used questionnaires and interviews in the experimental class to inquire into the students'attitudes towards reading-to-write model and English writing.The results of this study are as follows:Reading-to-write model is effective and plays a significant role in improving students' English writing level in the aspects of vocabulary,grammar and content in junior high school.The students have a positive attitude towards the reading-to-write model and hope to continue to use it in the teaching of writing in the future.The reading-to-write model has developed the interest and confidence of junior high school students in English writing and has made students change their attitude towards English writing.It can be seen that reading-to-write model has a positive impact on junior high school students' English writing.Therefore,it is suggested that English teachers in junior high school should combine writing with reading organically,and cultivate students to apply the knowledge they have acquired in reading to their writing,so as to improve the students'English writing ability.
