This paper examines the historical facts of the relocation of Henan University after the July 7 Incident, discusses the exile trajectory of this provincial university from within the province to outside the province, tries to analyze the influence of factional entanglements within the university and the war situation on the relocation route of Henan University, and explores the experience of Henan University during the relocation period and its contribution to the country and society.During the war period.Henan University went into exile in four regions:southern Henan, western Wanxi.western Henan, and central Guanzhou, through seven places:Jigong Mountain in Xinyang,Zhenping County in Nanyang,Song County in Luoyang,Tantu Town in Song County,Jingziguan Town in Nanyang, and Hanzhong and Baoji in Shaanxi. After the July 7 Incident, unlike the colleges and universities that moved west to the great rear.Henan University chose to move to the remote mountainous areas of the province in terms of the location of the relocation.During the comprehensive war,Henan University mainly moved around Henan and Shaanxi during the migration route, experiencing three stages from Yudong to Wanxi, from Wanxi to Yuxi, and from within the province to outside the province. In the eight years and four months of the migration process,Henan University was stranded in the province for seven years and nine months. The reason for this is related to the local attributes of Henan University. The interference of the local power faction in Henan was an important factor contributing to the stranding of Henan University in the province.Led by the policy of adhering to running schools in Henan Province,Henan University became an institution of higher learning located on the front line of the war with the situation of Japanese military aggression against Henan. In the process of relocation, although the conditions were difficult,Henan University still insisted on running the school, and carrying out teaching and research activities under difficult circumstances.Students and faculty were clothed, fed and housed in simple but bitter conditions, and their entertainment was enriched by performing plays. With the concerted efforts of students and faculty,Henan University became a national university in 1942,and its overall strength was improved compared to the provincial period. With the mission of "serving the country and society",Henan University supported the war effort and participated in local construction in the process of relocation, which had a positive impact on the country and the local community. After the outbreak of the war,Henan University students and faculty members wrote articles in newspapers calling for salvation, participated in organizing salvation groups, carried out salvation activities, and called on young students to join the military. With their own words and actions,Henan University students and faculty members put into practice the patriotic concept of "the rise and fall of the world is the responsibility of everyone" and contributed to the war effort.During the five years of schooling in western Henan,Henan University spread new culture in the area by opening primary and secondary schools, promoting adult education, and promoting the cultural progress of the Tamtou area;it also benefited the local community by improving medical conditions and participating in disaster management. The relocation of Henan University preserved the strength of Henan’s highest educational institution and contributed to the development of higher education in Henan after the war.During its relocation,Henan University sowed the seeds of culture and education in the relatively backward areas of Henan, which led to the progress of local culture and education, and demonstrated the national spirit of self-improvement and the belief of winning the cultural war.
