A Study Of Meaning Of The Configuration Containing Cooking And Placing Equipment In Shang Oracle Bone Inscriptions

Oracle bone inscriptions,which have survived till today as the historic records of the late Shang Dynasty,are the earliest systematic written characters of Chinese,and also the origin of Chinese history and culture.Food is the essential part of human being’s life.And during the Yin Shang period,people have entered the civilized society,they used the equipment on their daily diet.the use of the food cooking and placing equipment runs through the history of human history,and has a close connection with social development.The goal of this paper is to sort out and analyze all characters containing those food cooking and placing equipment’s symbol in Shang Dynasty,basing in the latest unearthed discovery and research progress.The research object of this article refers to those characters containing food cooking and placing equipment,does not contain tools that used to take or cut meat,or contain the water and liquor.At present,the research object we can see in Shang Oracle bone’s characters mainly includes Ding（鼎）,Li（鬲）,Yan（甗）,Gui（?）,Dou（豆）,and Zeng（曾）.This paper includes both the single character,and those multiple characters.In addition,some characters,such as Fu（畐）,Lu（卤）,Zhuan（叀）etc,which has been difficult to confirm and still has many arguments are also been researched.This article is based on the script of the Oracle bone characters in Shang Dynasty and combined with the latest research of the academic fields,refers to the unearthed objects and other ancient word shapes.On the basis of summarizing the senior scholar’s view,this paper creates a more completed system for the word containing those food cooking and placing equipment’s character.It helps us more comprehensively understand the features of configuration containing cooking and placing equipment.Secondly,this paper makes some graphs showing the representative configuration in the various groups,and it is obvious for a comparison between the class groups to facilitate the reference.In addition to the former study,we can know more about the relationship between the configuration,the meaning of the configuration,the character’s sense and the meaning of the word.
