This survey report aims to investigate MTI students’ satisfaction on MTI curriculum designs of seven universities with MTI programs in Guangdong province and to put forward corresponding suggestions on improving MTI curriculum designs and MTI education based on students’ feedback and opinions.Master of Translation and Interpreting(MTI)has been established for more than a decade in China. In 2007,only 15 colleges and universities were authorized to offer MTI programs. However, the number of colleges and universities with MTI programs increases to 249 nowadays.A great number of teachers and students with translation and interpreting practice and ability have been cultivated. After nearly 12 years’ of development,MTI education has embarked on a Fast Track, but a huge gap still exists among different areas and universities. But for regional factors, experience in running MTI programs and teaching resources, the investigator considers that curriculum design, which is the core of any training program,is one of the factors for the gap.Guangdong province enjoys fast economic development, diverse cultures and preferable educational atmosphere, and it is also one of the areas with the fastest and best MTI education development.Seven universities in Guangdong province have been authorized to offer MTI programs, namely Guangdong University of Foreign Studies,Sun Yat-sen University,South China University of Technology,South China Normal University,Jinan University,Guangdong University of Technology and South China Agricultural University. This survey report starts from a brief introduction to the MTI curriculum designs of these seven universities, which are the cores of this report.Based on the setting of curriculum design, questionnaires are made and sent to MTI students in seven universities to investigate whether they are satisfied with the MTI curriculum design of their university and to collect their opinions on the curriculum design. In the analysis part, the data of each separated part is analyzed respectively, and thencompared together.Last but not least, based on survey result and analysis, corresponding suggestions on improving curriculum designs are concluded from students’ perspective. The results of the questionnaires demonstrate that most of the students from these seven universities choose MTI study out of their love for translation and interpreting and of their desire for making better preparation for future career, and they are satisfied with their curriculum designs but a few students think that the difficulty of some courses does not advance step by step and the time arrangement for some courses is unreasonable.Suggestions are put forward according to students’ feedback on curriculum designs.
