This practice report is about simulated simultaneous interpretation of Ma Weidu’s interview in "Master".It,thus, elaborates on the practice of simulated interpreting. The author chooses to adopt the simulation method of simultaneous interpretation, because with the economic globalization and the improvement of China’s international status, international exchanges are becoming more frequent, and simultaneous interpretation is increasingly used in various international conferences. At the same time, this practice report belongs to the subject matter of the interview, and the use of simultaneous interpretation can convey the meaning of the source language more quickly and save time. However,as is required by immediacy, the most prominent characteristics of simultaneous interpretation, interpreters must quickly complete a series of tasks such as listening to the original language information, storing information with short-term memory, converting meaning, and re-expressing the information from the source text in the target language. Therefore, the task is undoubtedly fraught with difficulties and challenges for the interpreter. With regard to the author’s interpretation of the conversation between the host and Ma Weidu in “Master”,an interview program, misinterpretation and information loss are particularly prominent. The causes can be summarized into four categories, namely, misuse of words, intensive information, logical confusion and insufficient extralinguistic knowledge. After a detailed analysis of the problems and an extensive reading of the journals related to misinterpretation and information loss, the author came up with three coping strategies, namely, improving the ability of using interpretation methods, improving listening and perception ability and enriching extralinguistic knowledge. The author hopes that the writing of this practice report, will enhance her awareness of the merits and demerits in her interpreting and shed light on her future practice. At the same time, the author also hopes that this practice report can serve as a reference for the same type of interpretation tasks in the future.
