The source text is a lecture given by Professor Pat Munday,a Fulbright scholar of the United States.The lecture was held in College of Foreign Languages of Jilin University in Room 500 on June 12th,2017.The title is“In the Mood For Love”:The Cheongsam/Qipao as the Chinese Women's“Power Dress”of the 1930s.The audience are teachers and students of College of Foreign Languages,including students major in Japanese,Korean,Russian and so on.The author served as an English-Chinese simultaneous interpreter in this lecture.By analyzing and summarizing the recording of the lecture and the interpretation of this practical task,the author finds out several typical problems which appear in the interpreting process and analyzes the causes of the problems,then puts forward coping strategies.Firstly,the author gives a brief description of the interpreting task and the interpreting process.Then,the author analyzes the source text,which mainly includes the analysis of the features of the source text and also some interpreting difficulties.Lastly,the author discusses the problems in the interpreting process,such as information loss,misinterpretation and improper pauses.With the help of detailed cases,the author classifies and analyzes several typical problems and puts forward coping strategies,including anticipation,syntactic linearity,free translation,omission and vague expressions.Through this practice,the author finds out her own problems in the interpreting process and resolves these problems with the help of several interpreting strategies.The author improves her interpreting ability through this process.The author hopes that this paper can be used as a reference for future study and practice of interpreting.
