A Study On The C/E Subtitling Of Founder Of Diabolism From The Perspective Of Nord’s Text Analysis Mode

With the development of China,China’s cultural industry is also growing.In recent years,Chinese films and TV dramas have made great progress in going abroad.The foreign sales of Chinese film and TV works with Chinese traditional culture and ideology are growing rapidly,and the acceptance of Chinese culture works by international markets is also increasing.The translation of Chinese films and TV works has become an important task in China.As a special form of translation,subtitling is restricted by time,space and other aspects.The translation should not only be concise and easy to understand,but can also convey the ideology and cultural characteristics embedded in the works.Taking translation of Founder of Diabolism as a case,the paper studies it’s subtitling strategies.This paper first introduces the characteristics of subtitling and the requirements for translation,and then explains the translation concerns of this project.Guided by Nord’s text-analysis model and the principle of function plus loyalty,the paper analyzes and summarizes the translation methods on this animation’s subtitles,including transliteration,literal translation,substitution,reduction and addition.It concludes that the translation of Founder of Diabolism aims mainly at transmitting information and helping viewers understanding the animation.The paper finds out that Nord’s text-analysis model can help the translator to make a better choice of strategies and methods of subtitle translation,improving the speed and quality of translation.
