| This paper is a translation practice report based on the text of On the Philosophical Character of the Confucian Dao.In philosophical papers, there are a large number of quotations from the classics or ancient works and culture loaded words.I chose the thick translation theory to guide the translation, puts the translation in a rich cultural and linguistic environment, and provides the readers with background knowledge through a variety of annotations,so that the readers can have a better understanding of China’s traditional culture, and also provides a way for overseas scholars to learn.Annotation can connect the source text, translator, translation and reader, and make the translation a complete and unified cultural network system with translatability, intention, readability and acceptability,so as to play the role of cultural connection. Therefore I proposed the linking function of annotation.Using annotation to weave the fragmentary, scattered and broken cultural knowledge into a huge cultural network helps to construct the source language culture in the target language,so that readers can fully appreciate the charm of culture, and also helps to construct the image of China in the international exchanges of cultural mutual construction, cultural mutual assistance, cultural mutual reflection and multiple coexistence.Chinese classics represent the image of China, carry the essence of Chinese culture, and contain profound philosophical thoughts.English translation of Chinese classics is of great significance to the construction of Chinese image. |
