Since the introduction of core literacy,there is a new wave of research in education.The cultivation of students’ English subject core literacy has gradually become the focus of English curriculum reform in education and school teaching.Tests are important ways to grasp students’ academic achievements.Whether the tests can reflect the requirements of the subject core literacy or not,it will directly affect the practice of classroom teaching and the development degree of students’ English subject core quality.Studying English tests of primary schools based on the subject core literacy is of great significance to enrich the methods of evaluation and improve the subject core literacy of primary school students and the teaching level.In combination with the researches of relevant experts and scholars,this study has reestablished the framework of English subject core literacy in primary school.On this basis,the test analysis has been carried out on 16 English tests of senior grade Z primary school in L city.Though the study,it is found that there are some problems in the tests currently in use: firstly,in the aspect of language competence and accomplishment,the form of oral tests is missing;the investigation of students’ comprehension and construction ability is slightly insufficient.Secondly,tests about cultural awareness represent a small part of the test questions.The content lacks the attention on the cultural connotation and the ability of intercultural communication.Thirdly,in terms of thinking ability,it mainly focuses on the investigation of students’ logical thinking,while the investigation of students’ critical thinking and innovative thinking is insufficient.Fourthly,in the aspect of learning ability,there is no test that exercises the students’ learning ability.Therefore,based on the problems we found,the study puts forward some suggestions on the improvement of English tests for the senior primary school students.Firstly,in terms of language ability: we should add the content of oral tests to improve students’ construction ability and set the scene reasonably to improve students’ understanding ability.Secondly,in the terms of cultural awareness: we should add foreign culture to contrast with Chinese culture,enhancing the understanding of cultural connotation.What’ more,we should integrate elements of traditional culture to improve students’ cross-cultural communication ability.Thirdly,in the aspect of thinking quality: we should use subjective test questions to develop students’ critical thinking ability.Also,we should use open proposition to improve students’ innovative thinking ability.Fourthly,in the aspect of learning ability: we should use mind map and cooperative oral tests to improve students’ learning ability.It is expected to provide some reference for compilation of tests by improving tests.
