In the upsurge of China studying in Japan in the late Qing Dynasty,the number of students studying in Japan in Shandong province was second only to that in Zhili Province.According to statistics,more than 600 students went to Study in Japan successively.With the development of the New Policy in the late Qing Dynasty,in order to meet the needs of professionals in various fields in Shandong Province,from1901 to 1911,dengzhou Prefecture,Laizhou Prefecture and Jiaozhou Zhili Prefecture,with their superior geographical location,had about 110 people studying in Japan,accounting for half of the number of People studying in Japan in Shandong province.They received advanced ideas and culture in Japan,and came back one after another to participate in the national salvation movement when the country was in danger,becoming an important force to promote the modernization of Shandong.Compared with those in the whole country,the number of anti-japanese movement in Jiaodong was far less than that in other coastal provinces,but it was more prominent than that in some inland provinces,and its influence gradually came into play in the modernization reform of Shandong.The group characteristics of the students studying in Japan in Jiaodong area are as follows: the age structure is about 20 to 30 years old,and there are distinct characteristics of The Times in the choice of schools studying in Japan.Teachers and law and politics are the main majors they choose,and some of the graduates studying in Japan have achieved satisfactory results.Influenced by western legal and political knowledge,most of the students naturally work in politics after graduation and return to China.In the political situation of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,the returned students from Jiaodong were the main force of the propaganda of constitutionalism,and also the active members of shandong Consultative Bureau.They also actively responded to the petition movement of the Parliament in shandong province,enhancing the political consciousness of the people.On the other hand,during their stay in Japan,jiaodong students joined the Tongmeng Hui and actively participated in the Revolution of 1911 after returning to China,promoting the independence of Shandong and promoting the political reform of shandong in modern times.In terms of educational activities,by establishing schools and newspaper offices,the returned students in Jiaodong area promoted the democratic revolution,improved the modern educational environment and educational methods,cultivated a group of advanced intellectuals familiar with domestic and foreign culture,and promoted the germination of modern education mode in Shandong.In terms of industrial activities,some students studying in Japan can still use their industrial technical knowledge to carry out industrial construction in the historical period of social change.The pioneers among the students studying in Japan in jiaodong in the late Qing Dynasty combined the knowledge and technology learned in Japan to open factories,compete with western enterprises,and offer suggestions for the industrial construction of Shandong.The returned students in Jiaodong are playing their strengths in different fields and speeding up the modernization process of Shandong.Although the number of students returning to Japan in Jiaodong area was limited in the late Qing Dynasty,they also played their respective roles in shandong’s modern history.In the field of modern politics,they initiated anti-aggression revolutionary uprisings for democracy and assumed the historical responsibility of social revolutionaries.In the field of culture and education,they acted as a driving force for social change.In short,the students who returned to Japan from Jiaodong in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China played a certain role in the modernization of Shandong.
