The movement of Sichuan students studying in Japan in the late Qing Dynasty holds an important space in the history of Chinese studying aboard, and the paper tentatively tries to do some comprehensive researches on the Sichuan students educating in Japan in this period. The paper touches on three aspects mostly as follows: firstly, the background of the people in Sichuan stepping out of Kuimen. The reasons the people in Sichuan went to Japan are related with the social circumstances at that time. The rising surge of students to study in Japan, the Political Reform towards the late Qing Dynasty and the situation that the nation was weak while the people being poor impulsed the people in Sichuan walked out. Secondly, the activities of students studying in Japan. Apart from their studying hard to suck the useful knowledge, the students from Sichuan attended actively all kinds of revolutionary movements. Later, they became the members of The Constitutionalist, or took part in The Revolutionary Alliance. However, whichever they belonged to, their activities in Japan were based on the subject of loving own country. Thirdly, the distribution of students returning to Kuimen. The students who came back from Japan contributed themselves to almost all the fields, such as the politics, the economy, the military, the education, etc. In peculiar their contributions in the Railway Project Crisis period were prominent. At last, the conclusion was drawn by analyzing the combination of the circumstance and the regional characteristic of Sichuan, and reach the features of the movement of the Sichuan students studying in Japan: the students were bold, radical, rebellious and easy to accept the new things; most of the students afforded their fees by themselves; a great of many students studied the subject on the silkworm-feeding and silk-making in Japan; they have the strong complex of the regional culture; almost all the students returned their hometown to apply the knowledge they had learned in Japan. In a word, the Sichuan students returning from the Japan exercised the imperative influences on Sichuan, and even on the nation. Maybe, there are many insufficient and unsuitable ideas on those initial studies of the author have made, so I am very glad and eager to be criticized and advised by as many as experts in it.
