Agriculture is a major issue related to the national economy and people’s livelihood.Promoting the sustainable development of agriculture stays in a prominent position in China’s economic development.With the continuous optimization of agricultural structure in China,the demand for translation of agriculture-related texts is also increasing,so the study of translation of such texts is of great significance.Who Really Feeds the World,written by environmental philosopher Vandana Shiva,reveals the advantages and disadvantages of different agricultural development models from different perspectives,aiming at enhancing people’s understanding of the factors that influence agricultural development and providing reference for land management around the world.The translation materials of this report are taken from the first four chapters of the book.The source text belongs to informative text with strong logic.Under the guidance of Reiss’ s Text Typology Theory,the translator aims to achieve the goals of “thoroughness,logic and fluency” in the translation practice by applying conversion,addition,splitting,reversion,reconstruction and so on.This report discusses the methods and skills on the translation of informative text in combination with specific cases,so as to improve the translation quality of agriculture-related texts and make them play a more important role in China’s economic development.This translation practice broadens the translator’s knowledge and deepens the translator’s understanding of translation.It is hoped that this translation practice report can better guide the translator’s future translation tasks,and also provide reference for other translators.
