Research On George Frederickson’s Ethical Thought Of Administration

George Frederickson’s administrative ethics is of great significance in the history of the development of administrative ethics and has an important impact on modern administrative ethics.Through the study of western public administration,he found out the reason why the traditional administration fell into the ethical dilemma,and formed his own administrative ethics thought based on the analysis of actual cases.Frederickson’s administrative ethics is of great theoretical and practical significance to the reform of administrative system and the construction of administrative ethics in China.This thesis uses systematic research method,causal analysis method and comparative research method to explain the background and origin of Frederickson’s administrative ethics thought,studies Frederickson’s criticism of traditional administrative ethics thought,analyzes the main contents of Frederickson’s administrative ethics thought,evaluates Frederickson’s administrative ethics thought,and based on its characteristics This thesis analyzes the path of Chinese administrative ethics practice.Frederickson’s own life experience and his time jointly promote the formation of his thoughts,and the thoughts of Rawls,Waldo and Weber together form the theoretical origin of his thoughts;Frederickson criticizes the traditional administrative ethics for its one-sided pursuit of efficiency and neglect of social equity and social political reality,and gradually forms its own characteristics in the criticism of traditional administrative ethics;The core of Frederickson’s administrative ethics is the value of social equity.Frederickson thinks that administrative ethics should abide by intergenerational ethics,and attach importance to the administrative ethics in bureaucratic politics.Frederickson’s administrative ethics has certain rationality,but also has certain limitations.Frederickson’s thought of administrative ethics is conducive to the construction of public administrative ethics to provide theoretical support,promote social equity in the administrative field,and provide a theoretical basis for the new public service;however,its theory of administrative ethics has a narrow scope of application,with extremist color and capitalist ideology.Therefore,we should use its rationality and abandon its limitations for reference.In the administrative construction of our country,we should adhere to the value orientation of social equity,strengthen the administrative ethics and moral cultivation of civil servants,and expand the channels and forms of citizens’ participation in administration.
