| The material of this translation report is selected from Grassroots to Global:Border Impact of Civic Ecology(《从个人组织到全球行动:影响力不断扩大的公民生态实践》).The source text conveys the importance of environmental protection and the widespread popularization of civic ecology practices.Environmental education is especially important in today’s society with rapid economic development, and rapid urbanization determines that the natural experience of most of the population must occur in the city.Through learning the social sustainability, people will be equipped with the awareness, motivation, knowledge, determination and skills to solve current environmental problems and prevent new problems in an individual and collective way.Domestic environmental education needs to be further popularized, and the research on civic ecology practice within the community needs to be paid more attention. From this point of view, this translation practice can not only deepen understanding of civic ecology practice and popularize it,but also can provides a reference for the research of domestic civic ecology practice.Vinay and Darbelnet’s model were used to analyze and solve the problems encountered in translation. In their book Comparative Stylistic of French and English,Vinay and Darbelnet proposed direct and oblique translation strategies, and seven procedures include borrowing, calque, literal translation, transposition, modulation, equivalence and adaptation, providing theoretical support and practical guidance for the translation of this project. In the translation process, the author classifies the problems encountered and solves them one by one.Based on different translation purpose, the author chose different techniques, such as the usage of borrowing and calque is to maintain the cultural characteristics of the source text, while the usage of transposition, modulation and equivalence is to meet the target language reader’s expression habits.Owing to the efforts, translation problems including vocabulary, long and difficult sentence translation problems have been solved.Through cases analysis, this thesis discusses how the author solves the translation problems and completes the translation project under the guidance of Vinay and Darbelnet’s model. It is expected that some reference can be offered for translation practice in civic ecology practice in the future. |
