Norman Rockwell has always been known as the "American popular painter".On the one hand,Rockwell is committed to the creation of magazine covers and gives the American people spiritual comfort by portraying the utopian warm and humorous ideal country;On the other hand,the transformation of his painting style records the struggles of different periods in the United States,and propagates through the storytelling of his works,so as to achieve the purpose of manipulating the emotions and concepts of the viewers,and then influencing the transformation of American society and culture.Although Rockwell is not valued by mainstream art historians,as an illustrator and artist who has made impressive achievements in popular culture and commercial art,he combines his own artistic practice and stands on the edge to examine the mainstream and surrounds the United States.Social phenomena,the development of important conceptual systems such as "idealized America","wartime concepts",and "civil rights" to realize the investigation and reflection of self,viewers,art,and social realism.This article is a research on the production of American images in Norman Rockwell’s art.As an academic method,production research takes the specific location and structure of media production as a unique explanation.Production research is about the experience and observation of the producer(artist).,Dialogue and interaction for basic analysis,taking the core terms that constitute Rockwell’s American image production as the starting point,examining the various images of ordinary Americans in Rockwell’s works,cooperation with publishers,and the background behind the creation,etc.By examining and reflecting on art and society,the nuances of language,behavior,and subjectivity can be more precise.The first chapter of the article presents the content of Rockwell’s American visual representation,which is composed of chapters such as "real life,public image,and social changes behind visual symbols";Chapter two continues to study the main influence on Rockwell’s artistic creation Source-American magazine "The Saturday Evening Post"(The Saturday Evening Post),and then explain the magazine’s audience,"business orientation",the combination of the magazine’s commercial orientation and national culture,and Rockwell’s work rhythm.;The third chapter uses the conceptual referential function of the visual images published by Rockwell in the magazine "Saturday Evening Post" during World War II,the manipulation of the people and the influence of real social patriotism,focusing on the visual image of Rockwell,For example,the "Four Freedoms" series of paintings,female hero images,fictional visual allegory images—Willie Gillis;Chapter 4 focuses on Rockwell’s identity reflection,focusing on whether it is an illustrator or the country behind the artist Sexuality,focusing on the “Rockwell Moment”,expounding that Greenberg’s essays written in the 1930 s metaphorically referred to “vulgar culture”.In the 1960 s,the Guggenheim Museum curated Rockwell’s name.The visual expression of modernity in his art and its influence on image realism,the process of seeking identity.This thesis will link Norman Rockwell’s specific works of art,go deep into the inner path behind his art,and make a more complete analysis and interpretation of Rockwell’s methods,goals,and concepts in producing American visual images,and then sort out Locke.During an important period of change in Will’s artistic career,such as 47 years after cooperating with the magazine "The Saturday Evening Post",why turned to join the magazine "Look" to shape a more serious civil rights painting theme and clarify it The core concern of artistic creation practice.It analyzes the reasons why it is not valued by mainstream art historians,the "Rockwell Moment" after the alternate development of American social and artistic concepts,and the influence of his works on photojournalism and video realism.The article will present Rockwell’s personal demands and his own unique creation system while restoring the complexity of Western modern and contemporary art criticism and providing "other" enlightenment for the construction of domestic art theory.
