The composition is a subject with a long history,rich theory,and a complete teaching system in Western music education.The major composition in China can be traced back to the 1920 s.The intellectuals,launched the New Culture Movement marked by democracy and science,and brought the struggle for democratic revolution and cultural construction into a new stage,after the revolution of 1911.The cause of music education has been developed in this period,the college of professional education,represented by the Training Institute of Music attached to Peking University and the National Conservatory of Music.The National Conservatory of Music was the first college that established a department of composition.In the early stage of the establishment,European conservatory music were introduced the mode of setting up the major of composition and the arrangement of its course,for this reason,the Chines music education,which was still in the exploratory background,setting at that time,entered a new historical stage,and it also made the study and composed of modern Chinese composition in line with the world.In the exploration of the past century,the cause of composing music in China has been developing continuously in the fields of creation,research and education.As the author of this paper,through the undergraduate study of composition,found that the professional system and teaching mode of this direction is basically the same as that of the composition department of the Professional Conservatory of Music,but the nature of the two kinds of colleges is different,and the aim of cultivating talents is also different,the direction of the composition major in the Normal University is not only to train outstanding composers and musicians but also to bring the professional level into full play in all levels of school education to introduce a new generation.Therefore,the author hopes to draw a conclusion through research and analysis and think about it,to provide beneficial suggestions for the development of composition major in teachers colleges.This study takes the composition direction of the Conservatory of Music of Southwest University and Hunan Normal University as the research object,adopts the literature analysis method,the investigation method,and the comparative research method,carries on the comparative analysis to the two schools composition direction opening,looks for the individuality in the commonness,to find the condition which is beneficial to the development of the composition direction of the Conservatory of Music of normal Colleges in China,and puts forward some suggestions for the development of the subject.This article is divided into three parts,namely introduction,text,conclusion and thinking,the text includes three chapters,the first chapter of the composition major will start from the development of the history of composition major at home and abroad,the current situation of the introduction,the second chapter of the two normal colleges undergraduate composition direction analysis,the author through the investigation of the two schools and interviews with their students to the southwest university and Hunan normal university music college history and geographical conditions,training objectives,teachers and students,curriculum,assessment system,graduation situation;Chapter three is the comparative analysis of the composition direction of the two normal colleges,and the comparative analysis of the two schools from the aspects described in the second chapter,and the analysis of the results from the national requirements,social needs,the development of the composition discipline and the degree of help to the graduates of the normal colleges.Finally,this conclusion is summarized and put forward.Although both southwest University and Hunan Normal University are the critical construction institutions of higher learning in our country,the training program of the Conservatory of Music also basically sets out with the goal of training educational talents.However,due to the differences in the length of the history and the regional culture of the two schools,there are some differences in the direction of composition between the two schools of music.Therefore,the author hopes that this study can find out the individuality based on generality,and then put forward some beneficial suggestions to promote composition in music colleges of normal universities in China.
