Richard Strauss,an important composer in the history of German romantic music,has composed more than 200 art songs in his lifetime.Besides,the ideological and originality of the songs he composed have high research value.He constantly reformed and innovated his works on the basis of traditional writing techniques,and finally formed his own unique artistic style,which greatly promoted the development of the vocal genre of art songs.This paper adopts the method of permeating theoretical research and singing practice to conduct an in-depth analysis of music ontology and artistic conception of the lyrics of "Serenade",and explore the inner meaning behind the music language of this work.It not only helps us to sing the art songs of Richard Strauss better,but also has far-reaching significance for improving our comprehensive ability and artistic accomplishment of art songs.In addition to the introduction,the article is divided into three chapters.The first part are the biography of Richard Strauss,an overview of symphonic poems and operas,and a brief introduction to the background and characteristics of Richard Strauss’ artistic songs.The second part is the analysis of "Serenade",covering the writing background and the analysis of the music ontology and artistic conception of the lyrics.The third part is the analysis of the singing of "Serenade",which is elaborated from German pronunciation,singing skills,fusion with accompaniment,and emotions.The analysis and research of "Serenade" can not only help us understand the singing style of Richard Strauss’ early art songs,but also reflect the style characteristics of art songs in the Romantic period.At the same time,it also has a reference and inspiring effect for vocal learners to sing German and Austrian art songs.
