As an age-related cognitive motivation, focus on opportunities reflects individuals’ awareness of new goals, new choices and new possibilities related to work, and individuals will decide their current actions according to their perceived future possibilities.Anyone’s behavior will be affected by his way of looking at the future. The change of individual focus on opportunities will change his perception of the future and the choice of goals, which will not only affect people’s goal selection, but also affect the individual’s effort and persistence in the process of goal pursuit.Research shows that age is negatively correlated with focus on opportunities, and older employees have a lower level of focus on opportunities than younger employees. However,it is not clear why individual focus on opportunities level decreases with the growth of age.According to life psychology, with the growth of age, some important abilities and resources, such as information processing ability and physical strength, will decline. These resources and abilities play an important role in maintaining high focus on opportunities. If individuals perceive this decline,it will lead to a decrease in focus on opportunities level. And Social support and self-rated health are important abilities and resources that gradually reduce with age, social support of individuals will gradually decrease with age,and social support positively predict self-reported health, less social support will reduce the self-reported health of individuals, this will further reduce employee’s focus on opportunities, which means that the social support and self-reported health may play a chain in the age and the focus on opportunities on the role of mediation. Therefore, study 1 aims to explore the simple mediating and chain mediating roles of social support and self-rated health between age and focus on opportunities. In order to further explore the individual differences of different emotion regulation abilities, study 2 examined the regulatory role of emotion regulation between self-rated health and focus on opportunities. This study attempts to understand the reasons for the age difference of employees’ focus on opportunities, which can help employees themselves, especially those who have entered the middle-aged period, through the middle-aged crisis and promote the active aging of the elderly employees. The discussion on these issues can not only fill the gap of the current domestic research on opportunities, but also help us to fully understand and recognize the professional attitude of employees. Finally, based on the theoretical model of future time perspective and the empirical results of this study,we explore the intervention scheme of focus on opportunities. The study used the focus on opportunities scale(Occupational FTP),self rating sub-health scale for Chinese urban residents, emotion regulation scale, social support scale,A total of 236 people from enterprises, institutions and other working age groups were selected as the research objects, trying to understand the role of emotion,self-rated health and social support in age and the focus on opportunities, and the boundary role of emotion regulation. The results are as follows :(1)There is a significant positive correlation between social support,self-rated health and focus on opportunities;(2)Age negatively predicts focus on opportunities;(3)Social support and self-rated health played a chain-mediated role in the relationship between age and focus on opportunities;(4)The moderating effect of emotional regulation on the relationship between self-rated health and focus on opportunities was not significant. At different levels of emotional regulation, there was no significant difference in the influence of self-rated health on focus on opportunities.
