| English reading as an important supplement to Chinese reading is of great significance to children’s cognitive development,language development and whole person development.The improvement of reading skills can not only establish students’ confidence in reading,but also promote students to master effective strategies in English learning,cultivate students’ good cultural awareness,promote the development of cognitive ability and realize their all-round development.Nevertheless,in the course of real classroom teaching,primary English reading teaching in China is mostly reflected in the training of micro reading tests,lacking the cultivation of macro reading skills and not playing the most important role in improving cognition and cultivating interest.For English textbooks,the reading content is relatively simple and the amount of reading materials is limited.There is a lack of reading materials that can provide students with a complete reading experience.Graded reading teaching provides students with rich and interesting reading supplementary materials,which greatly stimulates their enthusiasm for participation and their interest in reading.It also improves students’ reading level in the process of reading graded materials and participating in classroom reading activities.The main research methods of this thesis are documentation method,case study method,action research method and interviewing method.It consists of five parts.The first part is the theoretical basis for the application of Graded Reading in primary English teaching.The theories that supporting this research include Interaction Theory,Sociocultural Theory and Multiple Intelligence Theory.This part mainly expounds the relevant contents of three theories and the important enlightenment of the research.The second part is the identity analysis of primary English teaching,which includes the connotation,characteristics,values and feasibility.“Graded Reading”of this research is a reading teaching method which exists as an aid to daily English classroom teaching.It refers that in primary school English classes,based on the theoretical framework of the development goal of primary and middle school students’ English reading literacy,teachers who understand students’ physical or mental characteristics,reading psychology and reading level work out teaching objectives,choose suitable books for students with the help of English Graded Reading Standards of Chinese Primary and Secondary School Students(experimental draft),organize the reading activities which can stimulate students’ reading interest,form good reading habits and cultivate students’ reading ability.It presents the following three characteristics:Content diversity;Difficulty matching;Situational diversification.Graded reading plays an important role in English classroom teaching,which can stimulate students’ interest in reading,cultivate students’ English learning habits and improve their reading skills and comprehensive ability.The feasibility of Graded Reading in primary English classroom teaching mainly includes two factors: The domestic Graded Reading research has achieved certain results;Graded reading has a certain foundation.The third part is the practical design of the application of graded reading in primary English classroom teaching.The main content includes the principle of design,the basis of design and the process of design.It follows the four principles of entirety,relevance,gradualness and humanism.The design is based on the teaching objectives,teaching content and English Graded Reading Standards of Chinese Primary and Secondary School Students(experimental draft).The design process mainly includes the preparation of reading teaching,the implementation of reading teaching and the evaluation after reading teaching.The fourth part presents the case of my teaching of graded reading in practice,including the design and implementation of graded reading teaching.The fifth part is the analysis of the effectiveness analysis and the reflection in the application of graded reading in primary English classroom teaching.This research mainly summarizes the effectiveness in the implementation process through the interview of students and the test score of students.It contains four points: Graded Reading stimulate students’ interest in English reading;Students’ habits of learning English are gradually formed;Graded Reading improves students’ reading level;It can cultivate students’ comprehensive language ability.As for the reflection,there are three points that teachers should pay attention to during the application.First of all,teachers should understand students’ reading psychology and give attention to the selection of graded reading material.Secondly,teachers should adhere to the people-oriented principle and respect students’ individual differences;Finally,teachers should pay attention to classroom evaluation and reflection to help students develop in an all-round way. |
