| With the development of the times,the traditional connotation of reading can no longer meet the reading requirements of modern society.Now,the whole society has formed a consensus to develop students’ reading literacy.The history of a person’s spiritual development is the history of reading.However,how to scientifically and effectively guide students to read,improve the reading ability,shape a good cultural character,and promote the comprehensive development of learning ability is an urgent problem for teachers.The 2022 edition of English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education puts forward that one of the English concepts is to build a curriculum structure based on the grading system.Graded reading is to select suitable reading materials for teenagers according to their physical and mental development law and cognitive development level,so as to promote the effective development of students.Therefore,this study takes 49 students from a class in Grade 6 of a primary school in Jinzhong City,Shanxi Province as the research objects,and carries out two rounds of action research on graded reading,in order to explore the influence of graded reading in senior primary school English reading teaching.The purpose of this study is to answer the following three questions:(1)Whether graded reading can effectively improve the reading ability of senior primary school students?(2)Whether graded reading can effectively cultivate the reading habits of senior primary school students?(3)Whether graded reading can effectively strengthen the reading experience of senior primary school students?Through the 14-week action research,combined with the research tools,such as questionnaires,interviews with teachers and students,and reading ability tests,we found that graded reading can effectively improve the senior primary school students’ reading ability,cultivate the reading habits and strengthen the reading experience.In addition,this paper also points out the problems and solutions that encountered in the current action research of English graded reading teaching.Finally,in order to optimize the quality of graded reading in senior primary school reading teaching,this paper puts forward the following three pedagogical implications: first,choose appropriate graded reading materials;Second,conduct effective graded reading instruction;Third,adopt scientific graded reading evaluation. |
