Chinese complex sentences are an important stage for Chinese learners to transition from single sentence learning to text learning.Meanwhile,the ability to master and proficiently use the logical relationships and related words involved in complex sentences also hinder the improvement of learners’ Chinese proficiency.Therefore,in order to examine the learners’ mastery of Chinese complex sentence types and their ability to use Chinese thinking,the new HSK 4 sets "sorting questions" in the reading part.Based on the opportunity to teach at the Confucius Institute in Arequipa,Peru,it was found that the Confucius Institute students’ participation in the new HSK 4 and pass rate were low,and the correct rate of reading some sorted questions was not high.Therefore,how to improve the correct rate of students’ sorting questions and the passing rate of the new HSK 4 is a problem that the Confucius Institute needs to solve today.With the data of candidates who participated in the new HSK 4 collected in 2019 and statistical analysis,literature research and other methods,this paper combines with previous research results,the theory of error analysis and complex sentence related theories to makes analysis of the sorting questions in terms of question types and test sites.On this basis,the sorting questions can be divided into two categories: related words and unrelated words.From the students’ test data,it is found that the sorting questions involving conditions,assumptions,progressive relations and non-narrative types are the question types with a higher error rate.With the help of the obtained data results,the paper adopts the interview method to conduct questions on the students’ problem-solving ideas and the overall understanding of the topic,and concludes that the types of errors that students appear can be divided into related word errors and logical confusion errors.The reasons for the errors can be traced back to internal factors such as negative transfer of mother tongue,lack of reading ability,influence of motivation,and external factors such as teaching materials and learning environment.To this end,with the types and causes of students’ errors,the paper proposes suggestions for the teaching of the new HSK 4questions of the Confucius Institute in Arequipa from both the teacher’s teaching and the students’ learning with the purpose to provide some valuable references for improving students’ correct rate of this question type and the passing rate of the exam. |
