In recent years,how to improve the primary and middle school students’ ability of English listening,speaking,reading and writing effectively has become a problem,which is worth exploring and discussing in English teaching of primary and middle schools in China.The new round of curriculum reform in China advocates the "people-oriented" view of students and proposes to change the traditional teaching mode,so as to cultivate students’ innovative ability,practical ability and the ability of communicate and cooperate with others.This requires teachers to fully arouse the enthusiasm of students in class teaching,enhance students’ subjective initiative,and reflect the main roles of students.Group cooperative learning is not only a common English teaching method in class,but also one of the strategies to exert students’ subjective initiative.At present,group cooperative learning is regarding as a new teaching method in class,which has been widely used in primary and middle schools in our country,but the effective of its application is not good,and there is a tendency to formalism.The application of group cooperative learning in junior middle school English teaching has not reached the requirements of the new curriculum reform.Therefore,this paper conducted an action study on the group cooperative learning in junior middle school English teaching under the requirements of the new round of curriculum reform.This action research lasted for 4 months,and it was conducted from September 2020 to January 2021,a total of four months.Through the collecting and reading of a large number of articles,and based on the research of others,this research investigated and studied in the implementation status of group cooperative learning in junior middle school English teaching.This paper mainly takes questionnaire and action research as research methods,and 54 students in Class 4,Grade 8 of a middle school which comes from Chongqing Tonnan were regarded as the research objects to carry out two rounds of action research.This thesis mainly researched on the following three questions: First,can the application of group cooperative learning mode in junior high school English teaching improve students’ interest and attitude in learning English? Second,can group cooperative learning improve the efficiency and quality of English teaching in junior high schools?Third,how to carry out group cooperative learning effectively in junior high school English teaching ?The results of this study showed that the implementation of group cooperative learning in junior middle school English teaching has a certain effectiveness.The teaching mode of group cooperative learning can cultivate students’ sense of independent cooperation,change the traditional teaching method,expand the communication space of classroom learning,improve students’ interest in English learning,which is conducive to the improvement of the efficiency and quality of junior middle school English teaching.In addition,this thesis also gave some suggestions to improve the effective application of group cooperative learning in junior high school English teaching from the aspects of school,teacher and student under the background of new curriculum reform.
