Based on the background of pluralism and unification in Yuan Dynasty,as well as the trend of social governance system and political situation, this paper explores the creation of canal poems from the interactive relationship of "canal-times-poets-texts-cultures",restores the daily traveling life and mentality changes of scholars in Yuan Dynasty, and explores the new changes of regional culture in Yuan Dynasty under the extension of canal. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the influence of the canal shape change on the creation of poetry in Yuan Dynasty. On the one hand, the crossing of the three geographical boundaries changed the inner and outer horizons of Yuan people,"Saibei" was brought into the central territory of Han nationality, which changed the central view of Yuan people, and nomadic civilization infiltrated into farming civilization, and a large number of images of Saibei flooded into canal poems, thus breaking the writing perspective of Han people. On the other hand, the canal moved eastward as a whole and connected with the Silk Road, forming a broad pattern of canal poetry, which changed the way of life and writing content of Yuan people, and made the canal poetry in Yuan Dynasty present an international style of multicultural blending. The second chapter analyzes the Yuan people’s self-awareness and the change of values when they travel through the canal from the perspective of identity consciousness,so as to explore the internal motivation of canal poetry. The wars in Song and Yuan Dynasties intensified the national identity of the literati in the north and south, and the writing of canal poems generally had the painful emotion under the invasion of others. The unification of the country and the north-south connection of the canal make the national consciousness of the north and the south gradually weak, and the individual contradiction is prominent. The writing theme changes from the sadness of war to the completion of personal value, the eulogy of flourishing age and the reconstruction of identity. At the end of Yuan Dynasty, when the river was blocked and the local regime was divided, the literati in Southeast China had the sense of mission to help the disaster and save the world, and also sought to hide the soul, showing the consciousness tendency of self-separation in canal poems. The third chapter discusses the space construction process of canal poems. From the geographical space, social space and historical space of the canal, this paper probes into the selection of text images, poets’ emotional mentality, spatial cultural connotation and so on.There are three perspectives in the writing of canal poems.First, from the perspective of the private sphere, the sense of loneliness, rootless drift, and sudden death caused by the loss of culture and the sinking of home.Second, from the perspective of public sphere, the oppression of power, hierarchy conflict, the resentment of scholars caused by commodity economy, the admiration of the emperor and the sympathy of the people, and the mentality of watching.Third, from the perspective of historical changes, space expansion and the blending of the north and the south aroused the feelings of thinking about the past, praising the prosperous times, sticking to the ideals of Confucian scholars and thinking about Jiangnan collectively.
