Study Of The Overseas Poetry Of Kang Youwei

Kang Youwei,the main leader of the Reform Movement of the Chinese bourgeoisie in the late nineteenth century,was an outstanding thinker,politician,patriot,and an outstanding poet in the modern history of our country.After the failure of the Reform Movement of 1898,he went into exile outside the territory,"travelling around the earth three times,all over the four continents,more than 30 countries,and 600,000 Li".He wrote more than 800 poems from abroad,which were full of the poet’s patriotism of missing his homeland.It also depicts fresh and peculiar foreign scenery and modern civilization,full of unique artistic charm.This article is composed of five parts: the introduction focuses on the history and current situation of Kang Youwei’s research on poems outside the region.The literature review is mainly divided into the collection,selection,tasting and research of Kang Youwei’s poems outside the region,leadind to the basis of the topic selection and research value.The first chapter is an introduction to Kang Youwei’s background in fleeing outside the territory,and a brief introduction of Kang Youwei’s life before starting his exile career.The second chapter combs the creative process of Kang Youwei’s extraterritorial poems and divides it into three periods,namely: the period of grief and indignation.The poems were included in "Mingyi Pavilion Poems","Dabi Pavilion Poems" and "Xumi Snow Pavilion Poems";the period of roaming and investigation,the poems made were included in "Xiaoyao You Zhai Poetry Collection","Liaotianshi Collection","Bidao Poetry Collection","Yilian Poetry Collection" and "Nanlantang Poetry Collection";the period of wanting,to return home writing poems were collected in "Qiyuan Poetry Collection".The third chapter summarizes the artistic characteristics of Kang Youwei’s poems from abroad.It is mainly summarized in the following four aspects: new changes of language in poems,including of the new usage of the old allusion and new words;the compatible poetic reforms;integration of emotional and environmental;vigorous and magnificent artistic conception.The fourth chapter comprehensively explores the historical status and influence of Kang Youwei’s overseas poems,including including their status and influence in Kang Youwei’s personal creative career,and their important role in the transformation of modern poetry.The conclusion once again reiterated the artistic value and charm of Kang’s poems outside the territory,which are worthy of our consideration and appreciation.
