The earliest appearance of Taoyuan theme works can be traced back to the Tang and Song dynasties.The works of this period mostly express the incompetent and peaceful environment that the author hopes for.This is similar to Tao Yuanming’s "Taohuayuan"(about 365-427)."The longing for the fairyland of seclusion and retreat expressed in " echoes.Until the Ming Dynasty,the number of publications of "Tao Yuanming Collection" increased,so that "Tao Hua Yuan Ji" was widely circulated as a masterpiece,and it also promoted the prosperity of art creation on this subject.With the social turmoil in the mid and late Ming Dynasty,most literati in the south of the Yangtze River placed their ambitions and their desire to live in seclusion on their Taoyuan-themed landscape paintings.As a result,a large number of literati and painters scrambled to depict the Taoyuan life in their minds.This article starts with the formation and development of Taoyuan theme works in history,and then focuses on relevant content in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.In the middle and late Ming Dynasty,the turbulence of the political ruling class,the pressure of imperial examinations and the competition of officialdom,the prosperity of economy and commerce,the rise of psychological studies in the Ming Dynasty and the beautiful scenery in the south of the Yangtze River in the geographical environment,all provide material and motivation for the creation of Taoyuan theme works.Therefore,a large number of Taoyuan-themed landscape paintings emerged in the south of the Yangtze River in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.The author focuses on the representative figures Wen Yuming and Qiu Ying among the artists who created Taoyuan theme landscape paintings in the middle and late Ming Dynasty,and selects the "Taoyuan Inquiry Map" and "Taoyuan Wonderland Map" drawn by them to make specific discussions.Using specific examples and image analysis methods,starting from the pictures of the two works,I understand the secluded fairy house that the Jiangnan literati painters in the middle and late Ming Dynasty yearned for the popular Taoyuan theme landscape painting.The second half of the article mainly discusses the author’s combination of my observation of Taoyuan theme landscape works and graduation creation after study.It mainly analyzes the creation of "Travel in Taoyuan" through the sources of inspiration,the selection of scenery,the formulation of the composition,the coloring and the research of techniques,and at the end it discusses the creative experience and harvest.I hope that I can take my own path from the creative direction of Taoyuan theme through continuous experimentation and exploration.
