Logic Retrieval Of Source Language And Memory Effect Of Interpretation

In recent years,with the development of society,the change of living environment and the growth of population,the incidence of various chronic diseases and infectious diseases has been increasing year by year.Public health has become a prominent problem in China.To enhance public health awareness and promote the development of public health is a strong guarantee for the steady progress of society.This report is based on the practice of simulated consecutive interpretation.With the Forum at T.H.Chan School of Public Health as the material and the Interpretive Theory as the theoretical guidance,it analyses the effect of logic retrieving of the source language on improving memory in interpretation.We often encounter such problems in the practice of interpretation,after listening to a paragraph,there are only intermittent words left in our minds.Every sentence seems to be heard,but the meaning was not produced.Therefore,at the same time,the logic of the speech segment is not retrieved.Since the “sounds” heard are almost all vocabulary,the interpreter has not retrieved the inherent logic between them,nor could he consciously memorize the information content,which eventually resulting in a blank mind in interpretation.In interpreting process,the interpreter needs to memorize much information within a short period of time,but it does not refer to specific language signs,but the communicative meanings advocated by the Interpretive Theory.Therefore,in view of these problems,this thesis puts forward methods for logical retrieval.By means of retrieving logic within and above sentences,we can set memory points and memory lines and turn discourse information into a “memory network” which is easy for keeping in mind.It is helpful for the interpreter to have a thorough understanding of the content of the source language,and to catch all information points(specific information content),lines(links between points)and networks(overall concept),so as to facilitate memory and expression.Major findings of this report are the following: first,when listening to source language,interpreters should retrieve the logic of the source information,not only catch the key information and auxiliary information to generate the logic pattern and summarize the informative points,but also make clear the logical relations between the informative points.Second,it is not only necessary to clarify the logic within a sentence and grasp the meaning of it,but also to find the unclearly expressed logic above a sentence in interpretation memory process.Third,the interpreter should do the logic retrieval both in source language input stage and note-taking stage.
