| Wu Xizai was a famous calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty.He played a connecting role in the history of calligraphy in the Qing Dynasty and has attainments in poetry,calligraphy,painting and printing.He was a disciple of Bao Shichen.Like Deng Shiru’s calligraphy theory,Wu Xizai was deeply influenced by Deng Shiru.He learned from the ancients without sticking to them,and formed his own artistic style in constant practice and exploration.Throughout the study of Wu Xizai in the contemporary literary circles,the study mainly focuses on the relationship between Wu Xizai and Bao Shichen’s teachers and the study of his seal carving art,while the study of Wu Xizai’s seal carving is not much.This paper aims to improve and supplement the current research situation on the basis of predecessors.Firstly,it explains its life and friendship situation from the social and cultural background of the times;secondly,it combs the reasons for the formation of its seal script style through the following aspects: teachers’ inheritance,seal engraving,painting and tool materials;thirdly,it divides it into several aspects,such as writing,using pens and ending,combined with the comparison with the calligraphers of the same period.Finally,the historical position of Wu Xizai in the long river of calligraphy is analyzed by synthesizing the influence of the above views on the development of seal scripts in Qing Dynasty.Through the above discussion,the purpose is to more comprehensive analysis of Wu Xizai’s seal calligraphy techniques,so as to accurately grasp the characteristics of seal script style and guide the creation of graduation works. |
