| The source text of this report is the first 13 chapters of Iron-hearted Violet,a Newbery Medal winning book.Modern Chinese children’s readers are in great need of literature works,and they are no longer limited to domestic literature books.Iron-hearted Violet has a novel theme and positive meaning.The Chinese translation aims to provide Chinese children readers with choices and new reading experience.Under the guidance of aesthetics response theory,this report discusses the Chinese translation of the source text.The aesthetic response theory takes readers as the center.In children’s literature,children’s reading demand can not be ignored.First of all,children’s readers have their specific horizon of expectation for children’s literature.Children’s attention span is short so their first demand for children’s literature is interesting language.In the process of Chinese translation,the translator tries to arouse the interest of the target-text readers by using the lively and pleasant language style so as to meet their expectation for style.At the same time,readers need to experience the text according to the wandering viewpoints to build the understanding of the text.In view of some viewpoints in the source text,the translator makes changes and supplements in order to make the target text more fluent and natural and to reduce the difficulty of the target-text language readers.Finally,text blanks in literary works can help readers to enrich the text in the process of reading.Text Blank not only exists in the original works,but also in the process of translation.The translator fills in the text blanks in the three aspects of image,dialogue and logic reasoning to enhance the children’s reading experience.From the above three aspects,through different translation strategies and methods,the translator strives to make the translation better satisfy children’s expectations for children’s literature,reduce their reading difficulty and enhance children’s reading experience.Hopefully it can provide possible idea for later similar research. |
