A Practice Report On E-C Translation Of Culture’s Influence On Stressors,Parental Socialization,and Developmental Processes In The Mental Health Of Children Of Immigrants

This report is based on the translation practice of Culture’s Influence on Stressors,Parental Socialization,and Development Processes in the Mental Health of Children of Immigrants(2018)from Annual Reviews of clinical psychology as well as the corresponding policies and measures.The source text could be a good reference to the domestic researches of children’s mental health,and the measures proposed in the source text may inspire people to take actions to solve relevant problems.Based on Peter Newmark’s Text Typology Theory and the analysis of the language features,the source text is classified as an informative text,and methods of communicative translation and semantic translation are adopted.During the process of translation,problems such as translating proper nouns,terminologies,sentences with parentheses and passive sentences are encountered,and the author of this report tries to solve those problems by adopting translation techniques like literal translation with annotations,finding parallel texts and corresponding translations,adjusting the word order,converting the voice of sentences from passive to active and so on.Through this translation practice,the author of this report realizes that by analyzing the text types with the linguistic characteristics of the text,and adopting communicative translation and semantic translation as well as corresponding strategies,the translation can be more in line with the reading habits of the target readers on the basis of accurately and fully conveying the original information,and thus making the target readers more likely to accept and understand the information in the text.
