A C-E Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Report On The Speeches Of The 10^th South&Southeast Asian Business Leader Summit From The Perspective Of Interpreters’ Subjectivity

In the context of the Belt and Road initiative,China（Sichuan）-South&Southeast Asian Business Leader Summit aims to set up platforms for enterprises in various countries and regions in South and Southeast Asia,providing wider opportunities for cooperation and development,and further enhancing economic and trade cooperation between Sichuan and South&Southeast Asian countries.The 10^thChina（Sichuan）-South&Southeast Asian Business Leader Summit was held in Chengdu on September 18^th,2019.With the theme of“Deepen South-oriented Cooperation,Facilitate Trade and Investment”,the summit sets up one main conference and three parallel conferences.The summit has evolved into a regular meeting,which brings huge opportunities to the interpreting market.The author observed and learned the whole simultaneous interpreting（hereinafter referred as SI）process rendered by his mentor for the 10^thChina（Sichuan）-South&Southeast Asian Business Leader Summit held in Chengdu on September 18^th,2019 in Chengdu Marriott Hotel.After the first-hand materials were obtained,the author conducted a simulated C-E consecutive interpreting（hereinafter referred as CI）of this material in the Centre for Simultaneous Interpretation in Southwestern University of Finance and Economics（hereinafter referred as SWUFE）.With the help of this practice,the author writes this simulated interpretation report.Based on the CI simulated practice of the Chinese speech of the main conference,with the interpreter’s subjectivity as theoretical framework,the writer aims to explore the interpreting difficulties of the selected text with combination of many examples in this report,and then puts forward appropriate interpreting strategies correspondingly.Through analysis,these difficulties found in this report are as follows:there are long and complicated sentences,non-subject sentences,sentences loaded with figures,and parallel structures.The corresponding solutions are as follows:syntactic linearity,combination and division,addition,taking notes in the vertical way and using abbreviations,omission,and restructuring.The purpose of this report is to provide materials and references for interpretation teaching.At the same time,it will also provide corpus and references for similar leader summit interpretation practice and researches in the future.
