| Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia.It is located in the northern part of Borneo,bordered by Indonesia in the south,Brunei and Sabah in the north.Due to its unique geographical location and historical and cultural factors,Chinese schools in Sarawak have experienced a long and complex development in the local area.With these schools,the Chinese calligraphy culture has been extended to a certain stage in Sarawak.This thesis will review the development process of Sarawak Chinese calligraphy culture from 1946 to the present,outline the characteristics and influencing factors of its different stages of rising,development,and booming.And on this basis,outline the inheritance and development of Sarawak Chinese calligraphy to Chinese culture.This thesis is divided into five chapters:First,the introduction of the background and significance of the topic,sort out the status quo of related research,and elaborate the research ideas and methods of this thesis.Then,the First chapter of the main part of thesis is the rising stage of Sarawak Chinese calligraphy culture during the British colonial period.This chapter introduces the active calligraphers and their works from 1946 to 1963,summarizes the common features of calligraphers during that period,and analyzes the restrictive factors affecting development.Chapter Two is the initial development stage of Sarawak Chinese calligraphy culture during the Malaysian period.This chapter introduces the Chinese calligraphers and their works in Sarawak from 1963 to 1988,summarizes the common characteristics and explores the main factors that promoted the development of local Chinese calligraphy culture during this period.Chapter Three is the relatively booming stage of Sarawak Chinese calligraphy and culture during the Malaysian period.This chapter introduces the Chinese calligraphers and their works in Sarawak from 1989 to the present,summarizes the common characteristics,and analyzes the reasons for the booming of the local Chinese calligraphy culture from the perspective of the birth of calligraphy cultural groups and the rising consciousness of collecting calligraphy art.Chapter Four is about the inheritance and development of Chinese culture in Sarawak Chinese calligraphy.This chapter talks about the basic knowledge of Chinese calligraphy and the skills and methods of learning calligraphy,and puts forward some suggestions for the future development of Chinese calligraphy culture in Sarawak. |
