Ma yifu was born in the late Qing Dynasty and grew up in the Republic of China.At that time,traditional culture was fragmented academically under the influence of western learning trend,and calligraphy was influenced by the thought of "respecting tablets".This based on the background of calligraphy,his standing on the position of cultural philosophy,not constrained by tablet,post division of the sectarian ideas,advocated by the correct understanding "seal and clerical script style" of the traditional connotation,can be either the original source to make everyone to return to the tradition,but also to bring fixed Ruan Yuan,Bao Shichen and Kang Youwei’s "respecting stele" backward in the hope of revival of calligraphy elegance.This paper is divided into three parts: the first part mainly summarizes Ma Yifu’s life from his experience in calligraphy and his contacts,and explains the calligraphy style of Ma Yifu’s traditional literati.The second part is the study of the calligraphy concept of "seal characters and scribe characters" by Ma Yifu,which is divided into two parts: the connotation of the concept of calligraphy of "seal characters and scribe characters" and the reinterpretation of the concept of calligraphy of "seal characters and scribe characters" by Ma Yifu.The third part is the cause analysis of Ma Yifu’s calligraphy concept of "seal characters and scribe strokes".
