Study On The Pottery Decoration In Pingtan Area From The Neolithic To Bronze Period

From the perspective of art,folklore and iconography,this article fully records The Neolithic to Bronze Age pottery ornaments in Pingtan area,by focusing on archeological data unearthed in the past two years of this area,combining with relevant research reports on the lower reaches of the Minjiang River and its adjacent areas,and using the method of field investigation.In the form of hand-drawn drawings,you can understand the types and characteristics of pottery ornaments in the Neolithic to Bronze Age in Pingtan area.Therefore,in comparing the similarities and differences between the decorative patterns of pingtan and its neighboring areas--which is mainly the pottery pieces unearthed in Tanshishan、Zhuangbian Mountain and Xitou sites of Minhou,Dongzhang site of Fuqing,Huangguashan site of Xiapu and Huangtulun site of Minhou,we can find the continuation of the type of decoration and the emergence of other new forms.In fact,the occurrence of pottery ornamentation were directly related to the production patterns,living habits,and ways of making pottery in the primitive society.On this basis,through lots of field work and research on the pottery decoration in the region,on the one hand,it can reveal that people have knowledge about the "beauty",which is actually the beautification of living appliances;on the other hand,it reflects the living conditions and production levels of local indigenous people to some extent.The pottery of prehistoric society began to give people a visual experience,after satisfying basic practical functions.Based on the analysis of the pottery decoration in this area,I summarized the following points:Firstly,the main decoration of pottery by the aborigines of the early Neolithic period was embossed with shell teeth、stamped nails、photographed ropes、zigzag patterns and scoring patterns.Secondly,in comparison with the pottery decoration in neighboring areas,it was found that the early decoration basically showed similar cultural characteristics,and different types of cultural elements appeared in the later period.Thirdly,the decorative pattern applied is related to the shape of the device it carries.For example,the zigzag pattern is often applied to the mouth of the round bottom pot,which is flower-shaped;The wavy lines on the edge of the shell,mostly imprinted on the neck and shoulders of the jar;the cutout is generally at the foot of the straight cup,and also near the mouth of the open bowl.This are the most distinctive decorative form and shape in the areas,and it is also the most primitive state of handmade art in the area from the lower reaches of the Minjiang River on the east coast of Fujian.Fourth,the appearance of the same decorative elements in different regions should be the result of collisions after such cultural exchanges.By using the study of archeology about the origin and spread of the Austronesian ethnic group,I further explore that in the creation of life tools,the ethnic groups who belong to "ocean culture" together have the relationship about using for referencing,integration,inheritance and development.Fifth,due to the influence of many factors such as cultural exchanges,technological progress,and social development,the patterns of early pottery would be evolved into the most basic elements of decorative art after evolution,and it would continue to be innovated with raising aesthetic consciousness.meanwhile,this became the simple and honest characteristic language and creation skills,from which many pottery artists learn and use in their creation.In conclusion,the pottery ornamentation was one of the early ways of expressing beauty.In addition its changes not only brought the technical level to that era,but were also related to the spiritual civilization and aesthetic pursuit of the early people.As a result,these characteristics also confirm that each region is inherite from each other,so the pottery decoration in this region can be used as basis for tracing the origin of early culture in the coastal areas of Fujian.
