Study On Pottery Decoration Unearthed From Zhaobaogou Site

Liaoxi area in Northeast China is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization.The Neolithic Age in western Liaoning has developed Xiaohexi culture,Xinglongwa culture,Xiliang culture,Zhaobaogou culture,Fuhe culture,Hongshan Culture and Xiaoheyan culture.Zhaobaogou culture is an important archaeological cultural relic of the Neolithic Age in western Liaoning after the Xinglongwa culture,and has a far-reaching impact on the Hongshan culture.Zhaobaogou settlement site is the most typical site in Zhaobaogou culture.A large number of pottery pieces decorated with geometric patterns different from Xinglongwa culture have been unearthed in the site,and the shaped pottery pieces with animal patterns have been found for the first time.Through the in-depth analysis of the key relics units of Zhaobaogou settlement site,this paper holds that the houses in these relics are not used for ordinary living,but for some special purposes.Under this background,the pottery unearthed in the house site is classified and analyzed to clarify its function,and the related decorative patterns on the pottery are studied to find out the context of the evolution of decorative patterns,and the decorative patterns are classified and interpreted.It is believed that the prototype of "animal pattern" on the pottery in the site is not "deer" but "roe deer",and roe deer meat is a sacrificial object used to thank heaven.Through the in-depth study and analysis of the geometric pattern,we find its evolution trend: from type A geometric pattern to type F.Further,we found that the decoration was not just "decoration",but "word".In Zhaobaogou culture,pottery patterns not only have the function of decoration,but also have the function of marking and words.
