A Study Of The Core De Mands Of The Landless Workers’ Movement In Brazil | Posted on:2021-03-01 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:J N He | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2505306515491804 | Subject:World History | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Since the colonial period,Brazil has formed a land system dominated by large estates.After independence,the land reform policy of the Brazilian government aimed at the situation of high concentration of land had little effect,the conflict between people and land in the countryside was intensified,and the peasant movement was frequent.The Landless Workers’ Movement was formally established in 1984.In the early stage of the Landless Workers’ Movement,the core demand was land,they strive to win their own land for landless peasants in Brazil.In the development process of the movement,the demand for educational equity was derived,requiring the establishment of a complete education system in the countryside,especially in the settlements.In virtue of the relevant clauses in the land law in1964 and the 1988 constitution,the movement against the big real estate system,by organizing landless farmers family camping in unproductive farm covers an area,for talking with the government,urged the government to recycle the related land and assigned to landless farmer households,setting settlements,the government also of responsibility for the security settlement in infrastructure construction.After successful acquisition of land,landless farmers have a thirst for knowledge,demanding the right to educational equity,and promoting the construction of rural education system.With land acquisition and educational equity as its core demands,the landless peasant movement set its ultimate goal of fighting for survival and rights and building a more democratic and fair Brazilian society in the process of gradually promoting land reform and rural education system.Landless Workers’ Movement is one of the most important in the history of the peasant movement in Brazil,in the process of development,the movement had faced a lot of difficulities,and now,the movement faced bigger challenge.They haven’t achieved their goal yet,but movement for the social development,especially in Brazil has made a contribution to the improvement of farmers’ political status,and developed a new mode of the peasant movement to participate in social reform in the history of Brazil.The movement also and provides reference of the peasant movement in the world. | Keywords/Search Tags: | MST, Brazil, Land, Education, Equity | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
