Lucid Dreaming-Artistic Research By Lars Elling

Lars Elling is one of Norway’s most famous young visual artists.Elling’s unique style of painting occupies an important position in the Nordic painting circle today,he made Norwegian oil painting an integral part of contemporary art.Based on traditional painting techniques,elling selects familiar elements from different backgrounds and places them in unexpected circumstances to assemble a new story.Based on the current data,this paper makes a detailed analysis and summary of the artistic characteristics of elling’s works,and explores the composing ways of sobering and dreamy in his works through his painting language,and from this produces to my drawing enlightenment as well as to my creation influence.This article mainly elaborates the true and the dream constitution way in Lars Elling’s work from three parts.The first part expounds the realistic background of Elling’s growth and the cultural background of his creation.The second part,as the key chapter of this thesis,analyzes the artistic language of elling’s paintings.The first section from the spiritual level to explain the real and unreal in elling’s paintings blend each other.The second and third sections explore the painting language of elling,analyze the characteristics of the images conveyed in elling’s drawings,and interpret his painting language.Different styles reflect the artists’ respective spiritual concepts,Elling erased the delicate details and blurred the outline of form and color.As viewers,we jumped out of the limitation of feeling the meaning expressed in the picture from a fragment of natural existence,and perceived the real and unreal existence hidden behind the picture from the whole.The third part discusses the influence of elling’s artistic creation language on me.His representative artistic language has given me great inspiration for my graduation creation,on the basis of which the author has retained his unique artistic features.Lars elling gives a dreamlike interpretation to realistic scenes,and his subconscious mind flows freely,seeking to establish its own unique way of discourse.The paintings he displayed uncovering a dreamy feeling,the images evoked memories of childhood,partly blurred patterns,reminiscent of a bygone era,the painting floats between the reality and the dreamlike state,between the conscious and the unconscious.
